Celebrating Peg’s Gallery: Honoring Creativity, Community, and Behavioral Health Through Award-Winning Design

We join in celebrating Peg’s Gallery at Park Lane Square, a project built on purpose and brought to life through teamwork, intention, and a shared belief in art's ability to heal and connect.
This year, the project received two important recognitions:
- 2025 IIDA Cleveland/Akron Design Awards: Honorable Mention, Engage Category
- 2025 AIA Cleveland Honor Award for Interior Architecture
These distinctions honor the creativity, commitment, and vision poured into the project by everyone involved.
The jurors shared thoughts that capture the essence of the work:
“A warm and welcoming interior that reflects the foundation's mission of creativity and community. Material restraint, daylight, and warmth create a calm backdrop for creative engagement, while the playful ‘peg’ motif anchors the project's identity with grace and wit.”
Their comments echo the guiding intention behind the design: a desire to create a space that embodies the Foundation’s mission while inviting visitors of all ages into an environment that encourages creativity, curiosity, and healing.

A Home for Creativity and Mental Wellness
Located in Hudson’s vibrant First & Main district, Peg’s Gallery was envisioned as more than just an art venue. It serves as a echochamber of possibility, blending the beauty of art with the complexities of mental health.
The space honors the legacy of founder Peg Morgan and her mantra to “Think Bigger.” From concept to completion, the design supports the Foundation’s commitment to improving mental wellness through creativity, advocacy, and community engagement.
This 9,500-square-foot gallery invites individuals and families to slow down, connect, and experience the transformative impact of art.
Jen Minotas, Partner at +Detail explains the importance of this award:
"These Awards serve as validation that thoughtful design can truly advance mental health awareness, reduce stigma, and create spaces where healing and creativity coexist."
A Space Designed for Everyone
Peg’s Gallery was created with inclusivity and exploration as key elements. The experience unfolds thoughtfully:
- Family-friendly galleries with winding paths shaped by mobile walls
- Hidden surprises designed to engage visitors
- A playful peg wall, honoring Peg’s name and providing a joyful, hands-on experience for children
Peg believed strongly in the healing power of both viewing and creating art. This belief is reflected in the gallery at every touchpoint.
Collaboration That Brought Vision to Life
The project developed through close collaboration with Peninsula Architects, blending architectural clarity with a community-focused design approach. Together, the team created a flexible environment suited for rotating exhibitions, intimate workshops, large events, and peaceful moments of reflection.
The first-floor gallery acts as a welcoming anchor: calming, accessible, and in tune with the surrounding Hudson community. Natural textures, soft lighting, and material restraint provide a serene backdrop where art and human connection can thrive.
Designing with Flexibility, Warmth, and Purpose
Every detail of Peg’s Gallery was shaped by thoughtful choices:
- Neutral finishes to highlight artwork
- Mobile partitions allowing for constant transformation
- Interactive zones for children, including a tactile peg nook beneath the stairs
- Accessible reception elements catering to diverse needs offering flexibility
- Visual tributes to Peg’s legacy, including a sculptural version of her iconic logo
Nothing inside the gallery remains static, reflecting the evolution of healing, creativity, and community itself.
A Living Tribute to Peg Morgan
Although Peg Morgan never saw this gallery come to life, her spirit is intertwined into every detail. Her belief in the power of beauty, creativity, and community continues to guide the Foundation. Peg’s Gallery now stands as a living tribute to her vision.
The space serves as:
- A sanctuary
- A community hub
- A celebration of art’s healing power
- An award-winning environment recognized by both IIDA and AIA Cleveland
Peg’s legacy continues to impact the lives of all who visit this space. The gallery’s evolving story promises to inspire creativity, connection, and healing for years to come.
For decades, the AIA (American Institute of Architects) and IIDA (International Interior Design Association) awards have been among the most respected honors in the design industry. The AIA’s program, established in the mid-20th century, recognizes architectural excellence that improves community life and advances the profession. It celebrates projects that show design innovation, technical skill, and meaningful social impact.
The IIDA awards focus on the organization’s mission to promote interior design as a force for cultural and economic growth. They honor interiors that reflect creativity, functionality, and humanity. Being recognized by both institutions in the same year places a project in a prestigious group of design work that not only is aesthetically outstanding, but also enhances the lives of the people and communities it serves.
